History : The original Paul Kirk became a costumed hero after his friend Police Inspector Donovan was killed by a villain. Patterning himself after tales he’d heard of a Manhunter cult, he eventually brought his friend’s killer to justice. Kirk continued as the Manhunter throughout the 1940s and served as a member of the All-Star Squadron. In 1946 he retired from his heroic career and became a Big Game hunter. After being trampled by an elephant and left for dead, he was found by the secretive Council, who used him as the basis of their army of clones. Kirk eventually escaped and resurrected his Manhunter identity to strike back at the Council. With the aid of the Batman, he brought down the international organization but it was at the cost of his own life.

Since then, two clones have appeared, having either survived the final battle at the Council’s headquarters or having escaped before then. The first led a small group of villains against Darkseid’s forces, resulting in his death. The second, taking the name Kirk DePaul, travelled the world, selling his services to whomever could afford them. Eventually he clashed with Nightwing, who accused Kirk DePaul of sullying Paul Kirk’s good name. Manhunter currently serves as a member of the Power Company, a metahuman group organized along the lines of a law firm.
