Tony Woodward was a selfish and cruel lout, the type of guy who give other steelworkers a bad name. He was pretty well universally disliked by his coworkers – and well he attacked one of them, he was thrown into a slab of white-hot liquid steel. Naturally, this wasn’t any normal steel, but rather the remains of many strange experiments from S.T.A.R Labs. Woodward was reborn as the metallic Girder, and his angry at the world ensured that he would use his new power for crime and destruction. He was incarcerated, but escaped to join the new Rogues Gallery.
